The game is a third-person zombie survival-shoot 'em up where players control a character known as a 'zombie' and must survive against the zombies while building a safe haven and eventually a large-scale base. Okay, I’ll admit, I don’t know much about this game. On the up side, I’m familiar with the State of Decay universe, and I’ve played some of the previous games. On the down side, none of the previous games are anywhere near this one in terms of complexity. I do, however, know enough about the story to know when to shut up and allow the game to play out.

It’s a great game, and at times I’m too busy to check the tutorial. The tutorial reminds you to focus on just one person at a time, and I get more focused and patient when my squad is small. Without a squad, there’s no one to hold my hand, and I’m left to my own devices to figure out how to escape a situation.
