Books are the best way to improve your blackjack skills. There are many books available that cover strategies, tips, and techniques for playing blackjack, and reading them can help you learn more about the game and how to play it effectively. Some books may focus on specific aspects of the game, such as card counting, while others may offer a more general overview of blackjack strategies.
Despite being nearly two decades old, the book presents fundamental strategies in a novel and simple manner. Wong explains typical blackjack rule modifications, such as what to do when the dealer lands a soft 17, as well as how those rules change depending on the shoe size.
Arnold Snyder, a member of the Blackjack Hall of Fame, is the ideal candidate to teach blackjack to novice players because he has established his mettle and mastery of the game. In this motivational book, Snyder explains everything newcomers and seasoned players need to know to win in blackjack.
What we love the most about this book is its laid-back approach to the game. It offers a blend of theory, history, and practical knowledge that will come in very handy when getting started with the game. Big Book of Blackjack is also packed with bonus content, including cheat sheets and an interesting take on the Red 7-count betting system, which is another nifty strategy novices can stand to master right out of the gate.
"My first six books were medical thrillers that nobody read," he laughs. "Trashy, pop, sci-fi medical thrillers. One of them became a TV movie called Fatal Error, which is really horrible [and] airs at about 2 in the morning."
When Mezrich got back to Boston, he wrote up a book proposal and sent it off to his agent. The agent wasn't incredibly impressed. Las Vegas just wasn't "hot" yet, Mezrich recalls. This was back in the late '90s, before Ocean's Eleven and poker on TV.
And that wasn't his only big break: A week before the premiere of 21, Mezrich received a strange email from someone who claimed that their friend had founded Facebook. That led to his meeting Eduardo Saverin, the co-founder and former chief financial officer of Facebook, who told Mezrich that he had "a story to tell."
That story became the best-selling Accidental Billionaires, which led to more phone calls from Hollywood mainstays: Aaron Sorkin, who wanted to adapt the book into a screenplay, and David Fincher, who wanted to direct the film. In 2010, The Social Network netted an Oscar nomination for best picture.
Mezrich's latest book is called Once Upon A Time In Russia: The Rise Of The Oligarchs, which chronicles the dramatic rise and fall of Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky in the years after the fall of the Soviet Union.
The MIT Team's approach was originally developed by Al Francesco, elected by professional gamblers as one of the original seven inductees into the Blackjack Hall of Fame. Blackjack team play was first written about by Ken Uston, an early member of Al Francesco's teams along with Bill Erb and Blair Hull. Uston's book on blackjack team play, Million Dollar Blackjack, was published shortly before the founding of the first MIT team. Kaplan enhanced Francesco's team methods and used them for the MIT team. The team concept enabled players and investors to leverage both their time and money, reducing their "risk of ruin" while also making it more difficult for casinos to detect card counting at their tables.
At various times, there were nearly 30 players playing simultaneously at different casinos around the world, including Native American casinos throughout the country, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Canada, and island locations. Never before had casinos throughout the world seen such an organized and scientific onslaught directed at the game. While the profits rolled in, so did the "heat" from the casinos, and many MIT Team members were identified and barred. These members were replaced by fresh players from MIT, Harvard, and other colleges and companies, and play continued. Eventually, investigators hired by casinos realized that many of those they had banned had addresses in or near Cambridge, and the connection to MIT and a formalized team became clear. The detectives obtained copies of recent MIT yearbooks and added photographs from it to their image database.
Josh Axelrad is the published blackjack author of Repeat Until Rich, with a comically dark vantage point on the daily grind. Nathanial Tilton once played a table when he was called out by a pit boss who had read his published book, The Blackjack Life. Colin Jones, author of The 21st Century Card Counter and founder of Blackjack Apprenticeship gets real with a gut-busting tale of indigestion at the tables.
\"The whole experience in a lot of ways was surreal,\" remembers another MIT student, whose experience as a member of the team in the mid-1990s is recounted in the book Bringing Down the House, by author Ben Mezrich.
\"All this stuff was free,\" added the student, whom the book identifies by the pseudonym Kevin Lewis. \"Rooms with two floors and their own pools. And I stayed in rooms with their own butlers. My own butler, and I didn't know what to do with him.\"
Mezrich's book is being turned into a movie produced by Kevin Spacey. \"MGM is making the movie,\" Mezrich says, \"which is ironic, considering that MGM is one of the casino systems that these guys beat for so much money.\"

Probably no one actually lays the game in as basic a form as this, but for the purpose of this article there is no point in giving detailed rules of any particular variety: you can find all you want in any current card-game book or relevant online web site. It will be more useful to outline the range of variations and elaborations that you're likely to come across whether playing online, in a casino, or in a private game. 2b1af7f3a8
