TwinHan's foray into Linux originated with closed source bttv drivers (based on the BSD License) for Redhat 9.0. Unfortunately, there was a heavy cross exchange of fire between the bttv authors and the company, and TwinHan subsequently removed Linux as a supported OS from the list of supported platforms.
Since June 2007 Twinhan is delivering linux drivers again for a list of their devices. The supplied drivers are binaries compiled for the i586 platform and activate the CI part on the card which have them. In the archives most of the sources are supplied, probably due to GPL, except the part for the CI-module, probably closed source. So recompiling will not work.
Here ( -dvb/2008-February/023821.html) is the output for the Technisat Skystar HD2. It looks like it is a Twinhan VP-1041/Azurewave AD SP400 rebadge. Note that the subsystem ID (1ae4:0001) is different to the one listed above for the Azurewave card (1822:0031). Note also that a different subsystem ID for a Skystar HD2 (1ae4:0003) has been reported for some cards at -dvb/2008-July/027261.html so perhaps a change needs to be made to allow for this possibility too.
It was released for kernel 2.6.18, and the Fedora Core 6 distribution, so considerable work would beneeded to port it to the latest kernel. Some preliminary work on this has been reported, and lockinghas been reported to be better than the multiproto driver,see -dvb/2008-October/029642.html.
Whilst it is encouraging that Twinhan bothered to put a Linux driver on their website, it is almostuseless to end users. It does not compile with current kernels -- it was not released in the kernel and did not benefit from the future-proofing that that provides. It also offers no open-sourceCI support. If Twinhan would like to cooperate with the whole community to develop first-classfuture-proof open-source support for this card in the form of a released in-kernel Linuxdriver it would greatly benefit them and their customers.
It has been reported that (reference?) the Technisat will not be recognised as a frontend unless the value of the MANTIS_VP_1041_DVB_S2 #define in mantis_vp1041.h is changed from 0x0031 to 0x0001 to suit the different subsystem ID. Even with this change the card currently will not tune unless placed in DVB-S2 mode first using szap, even if the channel you want is DVB-S(Can someone please recheck this and report, stating driver version etc?).
Mantis driver is included in kernel version => 2.6.33-rc6.If you use a lower kernel version, there exists two different drivers you can download and compile. One driver is available at -v4l-dvb, and another at -dvb.
Unfortunately only the first one ( vp-1020a) works correctly. The second one (vp-1041) only works correctly with hotbird 13E on disecq id 0, but for some unclear reasons mythtv refuses to work with Astra 19,2E on disecq id 1. So I am concluding that mythtv disecq does not work with my specific vp-1041 dvb-s2 pci cards although it works very well with my vp-1020a dvb-s pci card ( strange ).
Please note that I tested the current trunk version of the s2-liplianin drivers ( s2-liplianin-8c8997d531c6 ), it installs and compiles ok but it does not solve the issue. I could not install r 12463 with kernel 2.6.35.4 since it does not compile, that is why I fell back to kernel 2.6.31.14.
I confirm that there is a compatibility issue between the vp-1041 twinhan dvb-s2 card ( Azurewave ADSP 400 ), the current mythtv diseqc implementation, the current v4l-dvb drivers merged in kernel 2.6.35.4.
If this problem if not fixed in mythtv, it means that owners of dvb-s2 pci cards based on the mantis bridge ( Azurewave ADSP400, Skystar HD2, Teratec Cinergy ) will potentially no longer be able to use their hardware as from kernel 2.6.33.5. As from this release the linux kernel will include mantis drivers incompatible with mythtv but compatible with the other applications such as Kaffeine and hts-tvheadend
Nothing in the API for DiSEqC has changed in the new kernel-- there are *multiple* drivers which have changed, however-- simply working in other, differently implemented softwares is not an indication that the problem lies in Myth.
So you need install some driver for usb rc receiver. Some another HID device, work as keyboard. I think this shipped with SS HD2 PCI devices (Twinhan-Azurewave 1041, AD-SP400 OEM). Anyway this not supported direct by current WinLIRC plugins.
If you get a generic IR receiver, like some of those listed on the winlirc webpage you should be able to use both of those remotes. HID remotes are possible to support with custom drivers, but it's more hassle than it's worth really.
HID devices install themselves as keyboards in windows. Some sort of low level driver is needed to either intercept the keyboard messages, or low level driver that stops them being sent entirely. It is possible, I had a few attempts in the past, but not something I will probably support in winlirc.

Now, when fps goes down to 15-20 fps, the metrics do not show the card running out of memory, cpu and gpu use% are ok, so I think this is software related more than hardware related. Tough. I definitely need to try DVBViewer 4.0 as Starman says, and/or possibly other Catalyst driver. I'll also log the monitoring graphs to have a close look. It looks like I need to have 50 fps on HDTV to be ok.
I use last Cyberlink PDVDv8 h.264/VC1 codecs and last CCC drivers (v.8.12). This codec get activate DXVA with .mkv files in DVBViewer but don´t work with HD dvb-s2 encpryted channels. For play .mkv files I use Haali Media Splitter and maybe this is the difference.
I can´t understand that difference between GPU and CPU load on hd files and hd channels assuming dxva is working. The only explanation that I find is the splitter used (Haali on mkv's and DvbSource on HD channels). Maybe DvbSource not activate properly graphics acceleration in combination with the latest Catalyst drivers. Hopefully someone with Ati graphic driver and access to encrypted HD channels we could clarify something.
First I have a new bug - the powerdvd 7.3.4407 is now unusuable. When I launch it to watch a regular DVD, the system will hang, and will eventually display a windows blue screen, saying in essence : "windows has stopped because your graphic driver is in infinite loop", "it is either a problem with the graphic card or with the pilot". I had followed step 1 (re-installing catalyst driver cleanly with 'driver cleaner') without success before. This time, I followed step 2 and upgraded the BIOS of my motherboard. Then DXVA worked in Media Player Classic.

I never found that the various online PCI library resources were complete in regard to subid's, I either had to go through the driver source code or try and filter the .ko binaries. It took a long time to get a complete picture of the drivers represented in those posts.
